Hi everyone!
I decided to tell you something about my diet that I have been following for about a month now. I was talking to my mother in law about losing weight because we were/are both kinda chubby, and she told me she has tried a Low-Carb diet before, but gave up. I got interested and off course I wanted to know more about it!
A Low-Carb diet is a risky road to take. It really is a lifestyle, because when you go back to your regular diet you will gain all the weight you lost in no time. Off course, when you get to your goal weight, you can have a controlled cheat day once in a while, but be sure to be aware of what you are eating. You really have to balance it out. This all seems like a lot and really scary, but it has a simple explanation. You have to see your body as the engine of a car, you need energy to function. A body usually uses the carbs you eat as a source of energy, and it stores the fat you eat. The goal of this diet is to switch that system. When you drastically lower your carb intake, your body starts to burn the fat it stored to keep your systems going causing you to lose those love handles. But like I mentioned before, when you eat too many carbs after you started the diet already, your body starts to store that fat like crazy, so be aware of your cheat days/meals.
My mother in law and I decided we were going to try this diet out together so we could support each other. We found some crazy delicious recepis doing a quick google search, like pasta made of courgettes (zucchini) or a pizza where you make the dough yourself with cauliflower, egg and mozzarella cheese. You can really eat crazy things but still be on a diet. You want to have 3 eggs with bacon for breakfast? Go for it! Cheese? As much as you'd like! And my favorite part: Dark chocolate!
fun fact: Dark chocolate is actually pretty good for you, and it's low in calories ánd carbs! Even though it's really bitter and not many people like it: I am a fan!
My body really had to get used to this diet though, so the first 2 days I quickly lost 1,5 kilo (3.31 pounds). Which is way too fast and not healthy if it happens to often. I don't suggest you lose weight at that rate. After that my body kinda started to disagree with my diet. I got diarrhea (sorry to overshare, but it is very common for people on this diet to get diarrhea so don't be worried about it) and it felt like I had no strength in my body, which is very tiring. I'm happy to say that after pushing through this I feel very good! I have loads of energy, and my body is not reacting weirdly to the diet anymore. I started about a month ago, and my starting weight scared me. 73.3 kilo's (161.4 pounds). I know it's not that bad and it could have been so much worse, but I am a really short girl, and that weight was too much for me to feel comfortable with. I am happy to say that after a month my weight is 68 kilo's (149.9 pounds) which is crazy. I haven't reached my goal weight yet, but with this huge change to motivate me, I will definitely get there.
The best thing about this diet, and it's honestly what keeps me going, is that you can almost see the change in your body daily. I had hardcore lovehandles, and after a while I could just see them disappear day by day. It's just really nice to look in the mirror and say: Damn. I did that. And I look hot as hell. Because you do!
Do you guys have a special diet? Or do you wanna know more about mine or the progress? Let me know!
And remember: You are beautiful, strong, and you can archive anything.
XOXO Brenda
